The discharge location of Big Bang's G-Dragon (real name Kwon Ji-yong, 31) was moved from Cheorwon in Gangwon Province to Yongin in Gyeonggi Province.
According to the announcement of YG Entertainment on October 25th, G-Dragon will be discharged from his mandatory military service on October 26th at 8 PM at the defense command site in Yongin.
The change of the discharge location for general soldiers is unusual. Thousands of fans will be gathered from both home and abroad to celebrate G-Dragon's completion of military service.
However, the African swine fever virus (ASF) has been detected in his military service site in Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon Province. The defense command site was under emergency due to the spread of the virus. As these issues emerged before the discharge, the 3rd Army Division made an unusual decision to change the location.
Cheolwon office also stated, "Big Bang G Dragon will be discharged in Yongin, not Cheorwon."
The statement added, "At this time, swine fever virus was found in the body of a wild boar in Cheorwon, South Korea. We are doing our best to prevent the spread."
Earlier, YG Entertainment sent alert to the fans, "The military bases where G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung are serving are in border territory where the African swine fever (ASF) virus has been detected. In order to prevent further spread of the virus, the quarantine system is being strengthened, and not visiting this area is being recommended. Civil authorities have also requested extra caution, so we ask that fans refrain from visiting for their discharges in order to prevent spread of the virus and for the safety of fans."
