Despite being dubbed as a “royal bad boy” during his bachelor years, people saw a lot of potential in Prince Harry. Royal fans expected a lot from the younger brother of Prince William, especially now that he’s married so he has a companion to help him with all his royal duties.
However, people seemed to not like the new Prince Harry. Many believed that the Duke of Sussex “regressed” instead of stepping up a notch, leaving fans disappointed, underwhelmed, and unimpressed. Not surprisingly, Meghan Markle was blamed for all these.
American conservative commentator and political activist Candace Owens took to Twitter to share how she didn’t like one of Meghan Markle’s statements in her and Prince Harry’s ITV documentary. She said that it seemed like the Duchess of Sussex was complaining, calling her a “witch.”
“Using African children as a backdrop to complain about your over-privileged life is offensive. Invoking your own mother’s tragic death to demand the press stop calling out your hypocritical wife is downright disgusting,” she wrote. “Meghan Markle is a witch. Harry is under her spell.”
One netizen agreed to Candace Owens and replied that Prince Harry didn’t progress after his marriage to Meghan Markle. “Couldn’t agree more. Finally, someone is saying what needs to be said. I really think he has regressed over the last year,” she wrote. “And at some point, they need to see why people are calling them out. It isn’t the media but the hypocritical behavior that is the problem.”
Another royal follower went on to say that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview was all about fishing some sympathy from people. During an interview with Tom Bradby, the anchor asked the former actress about the impact of public scrutiny on her. She, then, replied, “thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I'm OK. But it's a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have dealt and are still dealing with a lot of criticisms. Some netizens believe that they’re using the ITV documentary to make the public feel bad for them.
However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle garnered more hate and critics after they decided to sue a couple of publications. The royal family is known for ignoring the British tabloids, so the couple’s gesture was not seen as royal-like.
