Amid her busy schedule working on new music, Jeon Somi is preparing to take her college entrance exams on Nov. 14.
According to a report by Soompi, Jeon Somi entered the Hanlim Arts School in 2017 and juggled her responsibilities as a student and as an entertainer for the past two years. As a result, the Birthday singer will be taking her 2020 College Scholastic Ability Test to prepare for the next stage of her education.
It can be recalled that Jeon Somi, a former member of I.O.I, was scouted by The Black Label in 2018 and was later developed as a solo act. She made her debut this year with the dance hit, Birthday and continued to work on her music while completing her school requirements.
In a recent interview with Zion.T, the singer and producer said that he wanted to evolve as an artist by producing artists other than himself. He said that he was eyeing Jeon Somi for a possible collaboration.
According to Zion.T, he met Jeon Somi often because they both worked at The Black Label. This was the reason he got to listen to Somi's songs. He said that he wanted to see Somi show off her vocal range in her upcoming releases so they are working hard on it together.
Zion.T was not the only producer who helped Somi with her new music. In a broadcast last August, the former I.O.I member updated fans about her career and shared that The Black Label founder Teddy Park was actively involved in producing her new songs.
Teddy is well respected in YG Entertainment because he was responsible for writing and producing the biggest hits of 2NE1, BIGBANG, as well as BLACKPINK. He wrote and produced As If It's Your Last in 2018 and produced Sunmi's most successful hit, Gashina.
"When I told him that I was doing a V Live, Teddy told me to be sure to tell you that I'm recording a lot. I'm writing lyrics too and doing many things, so I hope you look forward to it," Somi said in her broadcast.
In the meantime, Jeon Somi will be working together with her dad, Matthew Douma as they join the cast of Law of the Jungle. The father and daughter team flew to Micronesia last Oct. 22, together with celebrities Han Hyun Min, Lee Jung Hyun, and Yoo Jae Hwan, who will appear with them on the show, Soompi reported.
Law of the Jungle is one of the most popular Korean documentary shows in Korea which challenges celebrities to survive in remote locations in the world. The show has been around since 2011 and aired its 300th episode in 2018.
