'Parasite' actors Song Kang-ho, Park Myung-hoon and the representative Kwak Shin-ae of Barunson E&A production company, won the beautiful artists awards on behalf of Bong Joon-ho.
Song Kang-ho, Park Myung-hoon, and CEO Kwak Shin-ae received the award instead of director Bong Joon-ho, who was selected as the winner of the film artists category at the 9th Beautiful Artists Awards (SACF) ceremony held at Myungbo Art Hall in Jung-gu, Seoul on November 6th.
The actor Song Kang-ho replied to the MC Lim Baek-cheon about Academy Awards, "We are hearing a lot of good news in regards to the Academy Awards, I think there will be good results."
Song added, "The director Bong requested that we join the award ceremony on behalf of himself, and he made a sweet offer to take a small amount of money out of the prize and give it to us. So I came here with a delightful step. Park So-dam was supposed to be a part of us, however, she had other urgent matter and could not join. We ended up being three to share the prize."
The veteran actor expressed his trust towards the director Bong Joon-ho, "I believe that a young artist named Bong will make a great movie being encouraged by movie seniors with a sense of responsibility. He will make the Korean movie shine."
Park Myung-hoon, who was on stage, said, "Thank you for inviting me to a glorious place for awarding director Bong Joon-ho. The prize, the plaque and flower, I will keep them well and send them to the director." "I am honored to be able to see those whose names I studied when I was taking movie classes. I wanted to say thank you to my seniors."
Bong Joon-ho debuted in a feature film in 2000,"Barking Dogs Never Bite", and was recognized for his achievements and artistry by attracting 10 million audiences through his films such as "Memories of Murder", "Monster", "Mother" and "Snowpiercer."
This year 'Parasite' achieved the Golden Palm Award of Cannes International Film Festival. Song Kang-ho is the lead actor of 'Parasite' and has worked with director Bong Joon-ho in other movies such as 'Memories of Murder', 'Monster' and 'Snowpiercer'.
The Beautiful Artists Awards was hosted by Shin Young-gyun Arts Foundation (Chairman An Sung-ki). Winners will be selected from five categories including film artists who have performed outstanding activities in the movie theater field of the previous year.
