The singer CL, a former member of the group 2NE1, is going to leave YG Entertainment.
On November 7th, Sports Today covered that re-signing of a contract between CL and YG Entertainment was not fulfilled.
CL debuted in 2009 through YG Entertainment. While working as a four-member girl group 2NE1, she released hit songs such as 'Lollipop', 'Fire', 'I Don't Care' and 'I'm the best', but the team suddenly disbanded in 2016.
Since then, CL has re-signed with YG Entertainment and worked as a solo. She even went to the US and released an album.
But she has been in conflict with her company due to her long break. The last album released by CL in YG Entertainment in January 2017 was farewell album "Good Bye" of 2NE1. She has shown her face in entertainment programs such as JTBC 'MixNine' and tvN's 'Livin' the Double Life'. However, she hasn't been in music for over two years.
Last year, the singer was caught in a controversy over criticizing Yang Hyun-suk, the head of YG Entertainment. At that time, while many singers of YG Entertainment's continued to make their comeback, CL was dropped from the comeback list, and CL asked Yang Hyun-suk's SNS about her recording plan and expressed her thirst for music.
At the same time, she posted photos of somebody who looked like Yang and wrote, "Do as you please", "Funny" and "Do whatever you want" implying that she was unhappy about her albums neglected by her agency.
In addition, the bad news related with YG Entertainment including Seungri's Burning Sun Gate and B.I drug controversy reportedly affected the extension of CL's contract with the agency.
