The Newcastle United reportedly wants to sign former Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka on a loan deal in Jan. 2020. The Swiss midfielder is anticipated to leave the Emirates next year and Newcastle will reportedly offer him a chance to remain in the Premier League, reports say. Earlier, several sources claim that AC Milan is also keen to sign Xhaka and the Arsenal player has reportedly started searching for a house in the Italian city.
However, Newcastle's Steve Bruce is optimistic that the Arsenal player will be more open to moving on the north east. Since Granit Xhaka was stripped of his captaincy, he has never played for the Gunners. The decision was made following the swearing incident he had with several Arsenal supporters after he was substituted during the 2-2 draw match with Crystal Palace.
Despite offering an apology for the incident, Xhaka was reportedly told that he is unlikely to be featured again, which propelled him to leave the Emirates. Several members of Arsenal roster feel that the former Arsenal captain was treated unfairly by the team's coach Unai Emery, who gave little defense of the Swiss footballer, Metro reports. Although Xhaka still maintains his captaincy on the national side, he fears that without first-team football, he could lose his honor.
The Swiss midfielder still needs reassurances that he will be regularly playing to make sure that he is included in Switzerland's plans for the European championship happening next summer. Because of these, Granit Xhaka decided to leave Arsenal in January and Telegraph claims that Newcastle made him as its number 1 priority. Xhaka is reportedly aware of the team's interest in him.

Fabian Schar, Granit Xhaka's international teammate and currently playing as Newcastle defender has shared with the Arsenal player interesting things about the team and the city. Newcastle's Steve Bruce reportedly intends to strengthen his central midfield alternatives and thinks that bringing in Xhaka will help him achieve this goal. Daily Mail claims that Newcastle has already outlined several other targets because of the competition for the former Arsenal captain's signature but is leaning towards loan deals.

Newcastle might be competing with AC Milan for Granit Xhaka's signature and several other teams are expected to vie for the player. Regardless of where he is going, one thing certain about Granit Xhaka is his decision to leave north London.
