Liverpool's winning run could very well lead to the club's first Premier League title, signifying too that the team will be collecting more championships. However, football legend Graeme Souness is not convinced that the Reds will be a dominant force in the competition.

Led by Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool trounced its strongest rival, Manchester City, in the league and the team seemed to have proven it is in juggernaut form. Souness said there is no denying the Reds are the title favorite but it is a different story when it comes to league dominance.

The former Arsenal captain believes Liverpool's current form still pales in comparison with the dominant team of the yesteryears, Metro reported.

Against the Liverpool squad that went victorious 10 times between 1976 and 1990, it's hard to imagine that the Liverpool of today will replicate the same achievements, the pundit said, and according to The Daily Mail.

Then the present Reds will need to at least equalize the historic dominance of the Red Devils, Chelsea, and Manchester City. The latter won two titles in a row in 2005 and 2006 with Jose Mourinho in charge.

United took home the crown from 2007 to 2009, courtesy of Sir Alex Ferguson, which is a feat that City is working to match should the latter club frustrates Klopp's quest for the first trophy for Anfield. The City was champion in the last two seasons.

Now looking at the current state of competition, it is hard to imagine that Liverpool will make a sweep in the coming years, Souness said, adding the English clubs are getting good in each passing year.

Chelsea's young roster, for instance, is tipped to pick up in skills and confidence and the club will surely emerge as among the top performers in the seasons ahead, the pundit on Souness observed.

Then there is City with Pep Guardiola calling the shots. Souness, who also managed the Gunners, is of the impression that the club is one of the toughest in the league and it will stay the same for quite some time.

As for the Red Devils, club boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in the process of rebuilding and opting for a young that can hustle anytime. There is no doubt that the old Devils will get back in form, no matter who is the head coach, Souness said.

"Manchester United will be back, guaranteed. It's just a case of when. So you can't say Liverpool are going to dominate," the Arsenal hero added.
