Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has been recently been hailed as 2019's Most Influential Dresser and it has been said that one of her fashion icons is Princess Diana, the mother of her husband Prince Harry. A fashion expert said, however, that Meghan makes one fashion mistake her late mother-in-law avoided.
Lyst Index named Meghan as the Queen of Style for this year, dislodging Kylie Jenner from last year's top position. She bested other best-dressed celebrities based on sales and media coverage that dictated this year's trends. She's also quite loved and adored by fashion influencers on the internet.
Meghan is the only royal who made it to the fashion list that also has Cardi B, Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Lisa of Blackpink, and Harry Styles. Meghan's sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, did not even make it to the list although she's also a fashion icon to many royal fans.
However, Princess Diana's former fashion designer David Emanuel said that Meghan Markle has yet to correct a fashion mistake she's been making over and over. Overlooking this one crucial detail is apparently not helping the duchess' public image.
Emanuel said that Meghan has "done a foot wrong" when it comes to fashion in his opinion. If the Duchess of Sussex is taking points from Princess Diana's style, then she isn't following what Prince Harry's mother did that's quite a big deal.
Princess Diana has always supported British fashion designers while she was alive. Meghan has yet to do the same, according to Emanuel, and so she needs to step it up when she is now a member of the royal family and a representative of Britain to the world.
Fashion expert Lizzi Zita also noticed the same thing as Emanuel. Meghan apparently likes wearing a lot of French labels in her wardrobe choices, particularly Dior.
Zita pleaded to Prince Harry's wife that she must start wearing British labels. Since she is one of the most frequently searched names on the internet, she needs to be like the figurehead for British fashion designers.
But then according to Harper's Bazaar, the Duchess of Sussex's four out of her top 10 perennial fashion choices are her favorite British designers: Stella McCartney, Burberry, Wales Bonner and Missoma for fine jewelry. In fact, on her most recent public outing, Meghan was wearing a McCartney belted coat.
