MBC has finally confirmed YoonA and Cha Eun Woo as the hosts for its annual Gayo Daejejun music festival. This will be the third year in a row that the pair was chosen to host the show together.
According to a report by Soompi, the positive feedback from Girls' Generation YoonA and ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo's hosting stint for the 2017 and 2018 Gayo Daejejun music festival helped the network decide to retain them as MCs of the show. This will also be YoonA's fifth consecutive year taking on the role.
The 2019 MBC Gayo Daejejun will happen on December 31 at the MBC Dream Center in Ilsan. Based on a report by Kpopmap, the tickets will be distributed via a raffle system on the event's homepage, similar to the practice adopted in previous years.
While MBC has yet to release the official lineup of performers for this year's musical showcase, it is expected that the who's who of idols will be arriving at the 2019 MBC Gayo Daejejun.
It can be recalled that last year's lineup of stars at the main venue included no less than BTS, Lovelyz, Red Velvet, MOMOLAND, Sunmi, Apink, GFriend, BTOB, GOT7, EXO, MONSTA X, NCT DREAM, SEVENTEEN, TWICE, Wanna One, Stray Kids, THE BOYZ, WINNER, Gugudan, TVXQ, Baek JiYoung, Bolbbalgan4, Bizzy, HwanHee, Yoon MiRae, Tiger JK, Hong JinYoung, and Sunwoo JungA.
In a separate venue at the Imjingak PyeongHwa Nuri, OH MY GIRL, (G)I-DLE, WJSN, Ben, VIXX, iKON, Golden Child, NORAJO, MAMAMOO, and Vibe lit up the stage with amazing performances.
As artists seek to finish the year strong, it is expected that the biggest stars will perform their biggest hits of the year on the MBC stage.
It can be recalled that the event started as the MBC Top 10 Singer Match competition when it was first aired in 1966. It evolved several times as MBC Top 10 Singer's Song Festival, 87 MBC Korean Music Festival, 88 MBC Gayo Daejejeon, MBC Top 10 Singer's Song Festival, MBC Korean Music Festival Exhibition, MBC Korean Music Grand Prix, MBC Music Festival, MBC Top 10 Singer's Song Festival.
In 2005, MBC stopped giving awards and devoted the stage to celebrate the talents of Korea's most popular artists in 2005, and the event became known as the Gayo Daejejeon. It is normally held on December 31st to cap off the year's best music and performances and is among the most-watched musical showcases by fans in Korea.
