"What the hell are you thinking? Ridiculous. Makes you look like a bloody fool. Get rid of it," Prince Philip said. The car in question was Elton John's Aston Martin that he got professionally painted with yellow and a red and black stripe down the middle to show his support to Watford.
Elton John was the chairman of Watford Football Club. He said that he would drive to the games using the "ghastly car" and even called it the "Chairman's car." The famed performer admitted that he didn't know his car received much attention until he got introduced to Prince Philip.
In his book, via Daily Mail Online, Elton John revealed that giving his support to Watford Football Club was something that ran through his whole life. His love for the team remained the same when everything else already changed.
Vicarage Road, where the games were held, was five or six miles away from where Elton John was born. He revealed that it made him connected to his roots and reminded him that no matter how successful he was, he was still the working-class boy from a council house in Pinner.
