Prince Andrew recently announced that he is already stepping back from royal duties. Following his public scandal these past few months, along with his most recent infamous interview, royal fans and experts deemed his announcement as just fitting given all the damage he has been accumulating for the monarchy.
But, before his confirmed "step back," Prince Andrew has been deemed as one of the most unpopular and dislikened members of the British Royal Family. Along with his kids, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, the York family has been in this position since then as per experts and fans.
According to Express UK, not everyone knows the York family, especially the younger generation. While some of them may have heard of the Prince and Princesses of York, only a handful of individuals believe that they have a positive impact on the British monarchy.
Between 2018 and 2019, YouGov carried out several surveys and polls on the royal family. Out of the upper 15 royal members, Prince Andrew holds the 15th place on charts making him the "lowest-ranked member."
Being the lowest-ranked member does not only mean that he holds an insignificant percentage of positive ratings. Unfortunately, this also means that the public does not see him as an asset to the family.
The same is also true for Prince Andrew's daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Based on the data, they are on 13th and 14th places on charts, respectively, in terms of rankings within the royal family members.
The reports also added that the public does not have strict knowledge as to what the York family is contributing to the monarchy. While they are deemed to be "full-time royals," their works, engagements, and advocacies are not entirely popular in the world, unlike the senior royals, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.
Some fans contended, however, that this makes sense, given that they have very little authority to the monarchy. Hence, their popularity and impact are close to being insignificant in terms of good works.
Even so, Prince Andrew's scandals, specifically his links to Jeffrey Epstein's trafficking case, has been noted as "damaging" to the British Royal Family as per Cheat Sheet. While Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice have been on positive spotlights since then, their impacts are not that huge.
With these points at hand, though, several royal fans and experts disputed that these are justifiable thoughts as to why Queen Elizabeth II needs to "trim down" the family. Many have suggested that the queen should fire Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, especially, Prince Andrew, and strip them off from their royal privileges in the future.
