The Walking Dead season 10 is currently on its midseason break, and the hit AMC series is set to return in 2020. The midseason finale left several questions that needed to be answered, with some of the characters' fate now hanging in the air. The official release date of The Walking Dead season 10 episode 9 has been already confirmed, but fans still need to wait for a few months.

The Walking Dead season 10 episode 9 will arrive on Sunday, February 23, 2020. UK-based viewers, on the other hand, will get the new episode the following day, Feb. 24, on Fox. CarterMatt noted that eight new episodes are coming -- dropping each one every Sunday -- and will answer some of the questions from the previous episodes this season.

The Walking Dead season 10 episode 9 will pick up the events that happened in "The World Before," with Carol (Melissa McBride) chasing Alpha (Samantha Morton). It can be recalled that Carol was walking in the trap created by the leader of the Whisperers. Also, a promo video showed that Gamma (Thora Birch) went to Alexandria to warn that there are people who are possibly in danger.

But, perhaps, one of the most anticipated storylines in The Walking Dead season 10 episode 9 is Danai Gurira's Michonne, as the character is set to exit this season. While many were aware that she's going to leave at some point, the biggest question here is how. Some speculated she might be killed off the same way as Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln).

Rick died after a harrowing event, wherein he was chased by a horde of walkers. Since the character's exit, there have been talks that Michonne will also leave the series at some point. However, it's still unclear how will Gurira's character leave the show since it's not yet confirmed whether she'll be killed off or just simply exit and move somewhere.

Moreover, a new character, named Virgil (Kevin Carroll), was recently introduced in The Walking Dead season 10. He's a man who has a mysterious past and could be responsible for Michonne's disappearance. In an interview with TV Insider, Carroll talked about his character and how mysterious he is.

He teased that anything is possible in this world of The Walking Dead, and it's yet to be revealed whether he's a friend of a foe. Carroll also discussed Michonne's exit in the show, noting that those who love the character will feel that it's a "rewarding piece of the journey" for her.
