Fox released 9-1-1 season 3 fall finale on Monday night, Dec. 2, with the title "Christmas Spirit." A lot of happy moments happened within this episode, but it also highlighted Michael's health and his current condition. Here's what happened in the recently aired episode.
The good news in 9-1-1 season 3 fall finale is that Athena's new husband, Bobby, is fine. A series of tests confirmed that he's no longer in danger from the hazardous fumes he previously inhaled. However, the bad news is that Athena's ex-husband, Michael, revealed to Bobby the truth about his condition.
During a conversation at the Christmas celebration, Michael revealed to Bobby that after his injury, some scans were done and confirmed he had a tumor. It looks like he's going through hard times, and his future is unclear, as he's now dealing with different symptoms.
Bobby is also in a difficult situation now, as Michael told him to keep the truth and not to tell everyone -- especially to Athena -- the truth about his condition. While he understands that he needs to keep the secret for Michael's sake, he still feels like Athena has the right to know the truth.
So, one of the biggest questions now in 9-1-1 season 3 fall finale is: why did Michael reveal the truth to Bobby? In a report from TVLine, executive producer Tim Minear discussed this matter. He said these two characters are father figures and have become friends.
Minear explained Michael and Bobby have something in common; they love the same people. These two men both love Athena, and Bobby loves their kids as well. The executive producer explained Michael couldn't stay married as he was gay, and there's no acrimony in terms of their divorce.
Michael loves Athena, and he even said in the episode titled "Rage" that he's glad Bobby was there for his family just in case something bad happened to him. He's likely foreshadowing his current condition there, and that's what he said at the end of 9-1-1 season 3 fall finale.
Meanwhile, as for what else happened in 9-1-1 season 3 fall finale, Maddie decided to go back to the scene of Doug's demise. There, she formally forgave herself and promised that she would live her own life to the fullest.
Christopher, on the other hand, lamented about the inconvenient work schedule of Eddie. But, the two eventually celebrate Christmas together at the firehouse. Lastly, Karen and Ken were inspired to begin the adoption process after an emotional encounter with a group of foster children.
