One of the questions in 9-1-1 season 2 episode 21 is if Jennifer Love Hewitt will leave her character as Maddie. The episode, titled "Careful What You Wish For," aired on Monday, May 6, on FOX and it made some viewers think about the future of Hewitt's character.
In 9-1-1 season 2 episode 17, Maddie contemplates her future in the call center, and she is unsure of herself, as well as what she wanted to do. One good thing about this character is that she's doing well at her job, although she has gone through a lot in her life.
She always finds a way to be there for people who need help in times of crisis. Perhaps, that's the reason why Maddie is good at doing her job because she knows the feeling of going through highs and lows in life.
If she hints her exit in 9-1-1 season 2 episode 17, that would also leave a hole in her brother Buck's life as her presence helped him cope with some painful events in his past. And while it's nice seeing her staying at the call center, many still want her to see sticking in the show.
The good thing is that there were some happening in 9-1-1 season 2 episode 17 that made Maddie reconsider and realize she can do more in her job. Fortunately, there were some reinforcements in this episode that made sure she will stick around - particularly a visit from those she had previously helped.
So in the end, Maddie realized she is making a difference in her life, and she doesn't want to give up - just yet. She struggled to do her job but was able to go through almost everything, and that's probably enough reason for her to stay. Also, thanks to Josh and Sue as they contacted those people Maddie helped over 911 calls and gathered them so they could tell her how she saved their lives.
Even though some things in the show remain uncertain, CarteMatt noted Hewitt's character would stay longer in the series. There are more reasons for her to stay, rather than go unless she'll be moving to a different part of the first responders' profession - like an EMT. But for now, it's safe to say Maddie will be stay and will not go anywhere so she can help more people in times of crisis.
