Jennifer Aniston is one own the brightest stars of Hollywood. However, there was a time of her life that she was discouraged to pursue her dream.
The 50-year-old A-list actress revealed to People Magazine that when she was in her 20s and just starting to make a career, her family was adamant that she will never "make a dime" from acting.
Aniston said there were lots of naysayers even within her own family. When she was told that she will never make money from being an actress, Jen hit back and hard.
"Just watch me. Don't threaten me that way. God knows now I'm going to make a couple of dimes," she said.
Then a major role in Friends came along and the rest is history. Now, Aniston is one of America's richest female celebrities.
According to Forbes, Jen has a net worth of around $200 million in 2017. During the last two seasons of Friends, Aniston raked $1 million per episode, making her and co-stars Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow among the highest-paid TV actresses of all time. Friends ran from 1994 to 2004.
Aniston did not name the person or persons who discouraged her from acting. However, it can be recalled that in a 2018 interview with Elle Magazine, she talked about why she had a difficult relationship with her late mother, model Nancy Dow.
Jen said her mother made it difficult for her to develop self-confidence at her young age. The Morning Show actress said her mom probably didn't realize at the time that she is leaving some deep wounds on her.
Aniston thinks her mom was just trying to do her best considering that she was a single mother and they were struggling financially. Jen's father is soap opera actor John Aniston.
Nonetheless, the Cake actress has a lot of things to be thankful for being an actress. She told People that 2019 has been one of her best years yet.
Brad Pitt's ex-wife starred in Netflix movie Murder Mystery which was released this year. She also starred and produced The Morning Show with Apple TV+. On the social media front, Jen finally decided to join Instagram and broke records on the platform.
Aniston is one of People Magazine's 2019 People Of The Year. She will be on the cover of the magazine's double issue. Also in the list are former First Lady Michelle Obama, Jennifer Lopez, and Taylor Swift. The special issue hit the newsstands on December 6.
