Doctor Who season 12 is coming out on New Year's Day on BBC America. Many are excited as there are a lot of things to anticipate when the new installment arrives. For instance, the recently-released promo of the premiere episode hints that Yaz is possibly in danger. But, what happened to her?

In the first episode of Doctor Who season 12, titled "Spyfall," The Doctor realized that Yaz is in danger. In the clip, the character was lying in a hospital bed, and it looks like she's in a coma. However, they soon discovered that something more serious happened to her; her DNA has been rewritten.

It's safe to say that Yaz isn't in a good condition when Doctor Who season 12 arrives. It was revealed in the clip that she was found unconscious on the floor of a plane's washroom. Some speculate that since her DNA has been rewritten, Yaz might be a totally different person when she wakes up.

When Doctor Who season 12 premieres earlier next year, we're going to see The Doctor doing everything she can to figure out what happened to Yaz and help her to be okay. The good thing is that the 13th Doctor isn't alone because she has other companions that could help her solve Yaz's case.

As for what else is coming in the new season, showrunner Chris Chibnall teased Cybermen are returning and they'll be "different" and "relentless" this time. He noted that they've done slightly something different with them and he wanted to tell a particular story.

The latest trailer of the new season also showed a glimpse of a Cyberman's new look. The cyborg appeared to be rusted, in a bad shape, and has been damaged from different battles. This is probably what Chibnall meant when he said that Cybermen would totally be "different" in the latest installment.

In the world of Doctor Who, Cybermen have been considered as one of the best monsters, since they're really terrifying and hard to ignore. And now, the TARDIS team will meet them again, but this time, they'll face the "relentless" and "different" version of emotionless cyborgs.

Doctor Who stars Jodie Whittaker as the 13th Doctor, Tosin Cole as Ryan, Mandip Gill as Yasmin, and Bradley Walsh as Graham. Some of the guest stars also set to appear this season include Stephen Fry, Lenny Henry, Robert Glenister, and Goran Višnjić.

Doctor Who season 12 premieres with its two-part episode on Wednesday night, Jan. 1, on BBC America. After the premiere, the series will then follow its regular timeslot on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 8/7c.
