Doctor Who season 12 is set to return early next year and the sci-fi series will welcome two big guest stars in the premiere episode. It was recently announced that Stephen Fry and Lenny Henry are the latest names appearing in the upcoming installment of the BBC adventure series.
The network confirmed Fry and Henry are both coming in Doctor Who season 12 and showrunner Chris Chibnall said the pair will be involved in the opening series of the new installment. Meanwhile, Fry said being in an episode of Doctor Who will "certainly do as a very sweet second-place excitement," while Henry noted being part of the show is "a very special moment for me."
Fry appeared in films such as V for Vendetta, Gosford Park, Wilde, and TV shows including A Bit of Fry and Laurie, Blackadder, and Veep. Meanwhile, Henry's previous TV credits include Broadchurch, as well as The Lenny Henry Show, Chef! Chibnall said the two great British will be part of "biggest ever" stories in Doctor Who season 12, with major roles.
Prior to the announcement that these actors are joining the series, several stars have already been reported to appearing in the new season. For instance, some reports suggest comic actor James Buckley will play a new character in Doctor Who season 12, named Nevi. In addition, Bodyguard and Dark Heart star Anjli Mohindra will, reportedly, play Queen Skithra.
Meanwhile, a teaser clip of Jodie Whittaker and her fellow time travelers on set was recently revealed. The series' posted shared a video on its official Twitter account, noting that they've already finished filming, and they're now on the editing stage. Fans were thrilled with the news, with one fan saying they've been ready since January.
Also, Bradley Walsh previously hinted that Doctor Who season 12 will be the scariest yet since it comes with "absolutely terrifying new monsters". He said viewers should be prepared in the new installment as the monsters this time will make their hair curl. He added that a couple of monsters set to appear are terrifying.
There is no Christmas Day episode airing this year, but Doctor Who season 12 is set to arrive in 2020 with 10 episodes. The series does not follow an official release date pattern, so it's hard to predict when the show will arrive. But, BBC teased the upcoming installment is coming back early next year, with many speculating either January or February.
