This episode will see the team investigating a case that's related to a gaming app, something that may not be entirely familiar with Gibbs. Also, he may not be somewhat involved in the case since he's going to have another job, which is babysitting Phineas.
NCIS season 17 episode 9 will follow the team investigating an unusual case, as well as exploring the downside of modern technology. The synopsis reveals that a petty officer has been murdered, and it was live-streamed on a popular gaming app. The team investigates as to why the officer was killed and why the murderer live-streamed the crime on a gaming app with a lot of users and followers.
According to CarterMatt, McGee would probably take more of the lead for this week's case since he's more familiar with this one than Gibbs. Yet, the latter will still be somewhat involved, although he has to do another job, and it could delve deeper into his personal life. NCIS season 17 episode 9 will see Gibbs babysitting his 11-year-old neighbor, Phineas, since his mother went on a last-minute trip.
Viewers might be familiar with Phineas as he already appeared in the series earlier this year in "Wide Awake." He is the young neighbor of Gibbs, and the two developed a close bond since then. Gibbs usually helps Phineas doing his schoolwork, and this time, he needs to babysit him since his mother is out of town. While watching the young boy, Gibbs may develop a deeper bond with him.
Meanwhile, it's worth noting that NCIS season 17 episode 9 will be the last episode of the series within the next few weeks. There will be no new episodes on either Dec. 3 or 11, and viewers need to wait until the 17th to see the final episode this 2019. The good news is, that particular episode marks the return of Cote de Pablo's Ziva David.
The actress is also set to appear in the first episode of 2020, which will air on Jan. 7. She first appeared earlier this season, and it was announced later on that she's coming back for two more episodes. Some fans still want to see her more after her Jan. 7 episode, but there's still no confirmation from the network whether or not de Pablo's appearance has been extended in the series.
NCIS season 17 episode 9 will arrive on Tuesday, Nov. 27, on CBS.
