Melania Trump supported Donald Trump in his presidential bid back in 2016. It was revealed that she pushed him to run for the highest office in the land not because she wants him to become president but rather for a different reason.
In her new book Free, Melania, author and CNN White House correspondent Kate Bennett wrote that contrary to speculations that Melania did not want Trump to run for office, it is quite the opposite. She revealed that the First Lady is the one who encouraged the real estate mogul, but her reason for doing so is quite hilarious.
Apparently, Melania got to a point when she was tired of listening to her husband talking about his desire to make decisions for the country whenever the country is in crisis or its near campaign period. The First Lady reached a point where she lost her patience with Trump's waffling about his desire to rule America.
"She very much pushed him to run, in part because she did actually believe he would win and do a good job, but she was also tired, really tired, of listening to him talk about it," Bennett said.
The author said it came to a point where Melania challenged Trump that if he thinks he could do better than the other presidential candidates, he should challenge them. Trump does run, and the rest is history.
Reports indicate that Trump has been considering the idea of running for public office even before he married Melania, and it continued throughout their marriage. In 2000, two years after he met Melania, The Apprentice star thought about campaigning alongside the Reform Party.
He and Melania got married in 2005. The couple has been together for the past administrations of Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama.
Trump also thought about running in 2008 and 2011, but it was only in 2016 that he finally decided to announce his presidential bid. Melanie did not object or talk Donald Trump out of it.
Bennet's revelations on her book made many think about its title, Free, Melania. Apparently, the book depicts the First Lady as an independent woman and how much freedom she has on on making decisions on her own while in the White House.
Bennett also described Melania as the "untouchable" in Trump's circle. The author noted that FLOTUS is the only one who can say what she thinks on her husband's face and can voice her opinion that is contrary to his without the fear of suffering from a barrage of name-calling tweets from POTUS.
