Tom Cruise has been rumored to be pursuing a romance with Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery. The two were recently photographed chatting as they seated next to each other in an award show.

Woman's Day teased on its recent cover that there is a brewing romance between Cruise and Dockery. The publication cited an insider who claimed the Mission Impossible actor was "thrilled" to sit next to the actress at the recent British Fashion Awards at Royal Albert Hall in London.

The source added that Cruise barely looks at anyone else all night as his eyes are all on Dockery. The insider did mention that the Non-Stop actress is currently dating Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge's brother, Jasper Waller-Bridge.

However, the insider also claimed that Cruise doesn't seem to be concerned about Dockery's dating status. The Top Gun actor allegedly planning to see Dockery again and he has been planning to have a chat with her again over coffee.

Gossip Cop debunked the story and cited a source close to the situation as saying the speculation is totally absurd. The publication noted that it is very common for celebrities to be seated next to another celebrity they barely know in events such as the British Fashion Awards.

Gossip Cop also mentioned that Dockery seems to be very happy with her current romance with Waller-Bridge. The two were also recently photographed holding hands at an afterparty for their upcoming movie, The Gentlemen. They were also spotted sharing a sweet kiss at the backseat of a taxi while leaving the party.

The site noted that it is not surprising that Woman's Day would create a baseless story about Cruise. Last month, the tabloid also claimed the actor was upset about ex-wife, Katie Holmes, dating Jennifer Aniston's former husband, actor/filmmaker Justin Theroux. This story has been debunked as well.

Meanwhile, Cruise made a rare public appearance at the British Fashion Awards to support fashion designer Giorgio Armani. The 57-year-old actor also presented with the Outstanding Achievement Award at the event.

Dockery, on the other hand, reunited with Downton Abbey co-stars Lily James and Laura Carmichael at the fashion awards. Dockery played the role of Lady Mary Crawley in the ITV drama, for which she received a Best Actress nomination from the Golden Globe Award and three consecutive Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series nods from Emmys. She reprised her role in this year's Downton Abbey movie.
