The Premier League table indicates that Manchester United is not among the best performing teams in the season, but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains firm in his conviction that Old Trafford is still a solid attraction for players. Many of them will want to be part of the Red Devils, the Norwegian said.
Solskjaer has revealed that he is targeting to hire new talents that will fill in the pressing needs of United, possibly a striker in the mold of Paul Pogba, who is rumored to move out in time for the January transfer window, and a midfielder or two.
A striker that is on the shortlist of Solskjaer is Erling Haaland, who according to Bleacher Report is the owner of 28 goals scored so far for the Red Bull Salzburg. The young Norwegian is surely pre-sighted by United scouts and fits the qualities of a striker that Solskjaer wants to work with.
Another target is James Maddison of Leicester. The playmaker is among the best in the assist department in all competition this season, and he can certainly kick in the ball. Out of 17 appearances, Maddison has scored seven goals.
Both or any of the two would love to become part of the Red Devils roster, Solskjaer said, explaining that United's main draw is that the club is "the biggest and best in the world."
"I'm sure there's so many players in the world who want to be part of the rebuild... Our players and fans enjoy our football and opposition players will like to be part of it as well," the club manager said.
And while stories continue to heat up on the supposed exit of Pogba, linked to a possible transfer that could see him joining Real Madrid, Barcelona or back to Juventus, Solskjaer hinted the Frenchman would be on the pitch soon. United fans will likely see him in action anytime this December, Metro reported.
In an update, the United head coach said Pogba is working hard to get back in form, and he will be playing games when ready.
"He is working hard to get fit and hopefully we can get him back on the pitch. Let's get him fit and back in form. He will play loads of games," the Red Devils head coach was reported as saying.
Solskjaer reiterated his earlier statement that a player with the caliber of Pogba will be of great contribution to United's campaign.
"He's one of the best players in the world and we're looking forward to having him back," the Norwegian said, as if hosing down the rumors that United is making preparations for the World Cup winner's eventual exit.
