Kate Middleton and Prince William did their royal duties and enjoyed a wonderful night at Queen Elizabeth's Diplomatic Reception in Buckingham Palace last Dec. 12. They could not, however, had the chance attend this annual party if not for Carole Middleton, Kate's mom, who babysat Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
According to Hello!, Carole was spotted leaving Kensington Palace that evening after Prince William and Kate returned from Buckingham. It was pretty clear that the hand-on grandmother spent time with her grandkids so that their parents could attend the glitzy party.
Last month, Kate had to pull out of a royal event at the last-minute citing reasons due to the children. Reports speculated that Kate missed joining Prince William at the Tusk Conservation Awards because they suddenly had to deal without a babysitter.
Prince William and Kate rely on one nanny, Maria Borrallo, to look after the royal kids. As any parent or childcare expert will attest, looking after three children can be quite a handful that sometimes an extra hand would be a huge help.
According to Daily Mail, Carole dropped in at 7:45 p.m. that night just as Prince William and Kate needed to head out to the Queen's engagement. Granma, however, didn't stay for the whole night and left within minutes after the Cambridge royals arrived home.
Meanwhile, the Diplomatic Reception showcased just how much Kate has blossomed into a confident "Queen in waiting," according to body language expert Judi James. The Duchess of Cambridge's calm and confident presence was a huge contrast to her 2015 attendance at a similar baquet.
Back then, Kate had a taunt expression on her face and apparently kept wringing her hands to signify that she was nervous and uncomfortable. At the recent event, however, she was dazzling and comfortable as she greeted and mingled with the guests.
Kate also wore her mother-in-law, Princess Diana's tiara, a sash and a medal gifted by Queen Elizabeth for her most recent anniversary with Prince William. James said that the duchess appeared like she was born to do this.
Royal fans also can't help but gush at how much Kate has matured into a regal royal. They expect that Queen Elizabeth will hand down more roles to Prince William's wife in the next year.
When the right time comes, Kate will be the Queen of England as Prince William assumes the throne following his father, Prince Charles. Kate could also become the Queen Mother once Prince George succeeds his father.
