Doctor Who season 12 is coming on BBC America on New Year's Day and many were excited about the upcoming installment. The series has been in a long hiatus as the previous season concluded back in December 2018, so viewers want to see what will happen now in the sci-fi series.
Doctor Who season 12 has been sharing promos of the premiere episode, titled "Spyfall". In the recently released clip, it looks like Yaz and Ryan go undercover and do an impromptu investigation. The two pretended to be journalists, and it seems like there's more to their mission.
The promo then showed Yaz and Ryan's credentials being questioned. But, it looks like The Doctor was prepared for this kind of situation and made sure everything will fine for the two. Before going undercover, they probably covered all the bases, so the mission won't fail.
However, it looks like things wouldn't go well with Yaz in the premiere of Doctor Who season 12. In another promo, the clip featured she might be in danger. The character is lying on a hospital bed, and they initially assumed that she's in a coma.
But, they eventually found out something more serious happened to Yaz; her DNA has been rewritten. It was also revealed she was found unconscious after collapsing on the floor of a plane's washroom. Some speculated Yaz might be different when she wakes up since her DNA has been rewritten.
Thus, the 13th Doctor needs to find a way to figure out what happened to Yaz before it's too late. The good news here is that she is not alone in resolving this issue, as the 13th Doctor has other companions to help her resolve Yaz's case.
It seems like Yaz will be one of the highlights of the premiere episode of Doctor Who season 12. This is good news for those who like her since the character doesn't always shine in previous seasons. So, it's exciting to see what's next for her this season.
In another report, executive producer Chris Chibnall previously teased the latest installment is one of the biggest and boldest they've done so far. There's a lot of terrifying stuff coming this season, with Chibnall teasing Cybermen are back and will different and relentless this time.
However, Chibnall told Entertainment Weekly that the presence of Daleks will not be felt this season. He said viewers shouldn't expect the famed characters as they won't be making an appearance. Daleks are one of the most iconic monsters in Doctor Who, so some were disappointed they're not this season.
Doctor Who season 12 will premiere on Wednesday, Jan. 1, on BBC America. After airing the first episode, the series will then resume with its regular timeslot, which is on Sunday, Jan. 5, at 8/7c.
