Earlier this week, Michelle Obama was asked about her side about the recent controversy between Ellen DeGeneres and former President George Bush. While many people were looking forward to her responses, the former First Lady's statements surprised a lot of netizens.

According to reports, it all started when Ellen and the former president were seen enjoying their time together during a Dallas Cowboys game a few weeks back. Upon witnessing the two getting all friendly and "chatty," several individuals took their disappointments to social media.

As it happened, the 61-year-old talk show host was slammed for being friends with the former president who has been known for his "conservative politics and anti-gay history." Although this already happened a few weeks ago, the matter still caught up in recent times, which was tackled in Michelle Obama's recent interview with George Bush's daughter, Jenna Bush Hager.

As per People, it was revealed in the interview that the former First Lady is friends with both Ellen DeGeneres and the former U.S. president. Upon asking what's her stand on the ongoing controversy, she responded to Jenna by sharing her experiences with George Bush.

Based on the interview, Michelle shared that she had an "opportunity" to sit by Jenna's father "at funerals." In these moments, it was revealed that they always talk about their families, especially their kids and their parents.

The former First Lady then claimed that, in this dynamic, their "values are the same." Although they do not agree on "policy," they do not "disagree with humanity," as well as love and compassion for others.

She further explained that this is "true" for everyone. But, people just get lost in "fear of what's different."

In the end, it seemed like Michelle Obama had nothing negative to say about the matter. However, this is not the case for the "concerned" citizens.

As reported by several publications, these statements made by the former First Lady were questioned by many netizens. Aside from the sarcasm that spread all over the internet, Michelle's claims of having the same values as the former president, George Bush, angered a lot of people.

Some even noted that Michelle and George have the same values because of their love for "money" and "power." Others, however, pointed out a much more serious case like the Iraq war that "destroyed the lives of millions."

Even so, there are still a few individuals who "defended" Michelle Obama. As per their insights on the issue, the majority of the people who got mad over her statements have taken her words "out of context."
