Prince William and Kate Middleton were the bright spots for the British royal family for 2019. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge delivered exemplary results for the House of Windsor amid a challenging and controversial year.

According to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, Prince William and Kate have "yet to put a foot wrong." The Cambridge royals, who will become the future King of England and the future Queen Consort, have become fine examples and "conducted themselves with great care" while the rest of the family have been involved in controversies.

Prince William's brother and sister-in-law, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, had quite a year as well after welcoming their first baby, Archie Harrison, and embarking on a royal tour of South Africa. However, Prince Harry and Meghan had to deal with the press after their admission that it's hard to be living under media scrutiny. The Sussex pair also went to court to challenge the bad publicity, which mostly pertained to Meghan.

Prince William's uncle Prince Andrew, on the other hand, rocked the royal family this year for his ties to the pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The Duke of York had to resign from his royal duties after granting a BBC interview to clarify his friendship with Epstein. Unfortunately for the royals, the interview was met with anger against Prince Andrew.

Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had a successful and historical tour of Pakistan last October. It has been more than a decade since a member of the royal family has been to the country.

The Cambridge couple remains very active in their royal duties even to the days leading up to Christmas. They have done regular appearances at charity events and special occasions to represent Queen Elizabeth.

It's no surprise then that Her Majesty gave Kate a very important role recently. She made the duchess the patron of Family Action, a position Queen Elizabeth holds since has become the monarch. This signified the growing respect and trust the Queen has for Prince William and Kate.

Despite their busy year, Prince William and Kate still managed to do their parenting duties to raise three growing royals - Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The family spent time watching a soccer game live over the summer and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also did drop offs like any regular parent during the school season.
