Prince William had a highly successful royal tour in the Middle East this week. Among the highlights of his visit was the trip to Outward Bound in Oman, which is a charity that helps young men gain life skills.
Royal expert Russell Myers witnessed Prince William's interaction with the men of Outward Bound and he was quite impressed. Myers said that it looks like the Duke of Cambridge could be a shoo-in to take over as the organization's patron after Prince Andrew, who quit his royal duties last November following his scandalous links to the pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
According to reports, this will be a ground-breaking role for Prince William, if he does get the patronage. It will be a great opportunity for him to work with a big, worldwide organization.
Outward Bound is actually the patronage of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, since 1953. Thus, it was a big deal to have Prince Andrew take charge of it following Prince Philip's retirement because it's been in his father's hands for a long time.
Incidentally, before he resigned from his royal duties, Prince Andrew was patron of at least 230 organizations. The experts claim that these charities could be split between Prince William and Prince Harry. It's still unclear if Prince Andrew's daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, could also take over his patronage in light of the rumored changes in the royal family.
With Queen Elizabeth poised to retire in 2021, when she turns 95, Prince Charles is set to take over as the head of the family. According to The Sun, Prince Charles wants to reduce the number of working royals to just his sons, Prince William and Harry, and their wives, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, which leaves Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie out of The Firm.
The Telegraph reported that Prince Andrew had a face-to-face meeting with Prince Charles and their father, Prince Philip, in Sandringham on Dec. 2. Allegedly, the patriarch told Prince Andrew to "take his punishment" and step away from his royal duties.
Meanwhile, Prince William is now back in London after his four-day trip to Oman and Kuwait. He arrived in the afternoon and was able to see his kids off to bed, according to Hello. He and Kate will likely be attending another royal event on Dec. 11, when the Queen holds her Diplomatic reception, which is a strictly white tie event.
