Prince William is one proud dad of his kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The Duke of Cambridge revealed, during an investiture ceremony in Buckingham for legendary swimming champ Eileen Fenton, that his children are great swimmers.
Fenton told People that Prince William shared to her how he and his wife Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, make sure that the children can go swimming as often as possible. The Cambridges love to do this activity together.
It's common to see the Cambridge kids at swimming races organized by their mom. Kate also shared in a previous interview that little Charlotte loves doing duck dives and is not afraid of the water.
Fenton, who was the first woman to join the Cross Channel Swimming Race in the 1950s, also shared that the kids are much like their grandmothers Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret. She remembered seeing swimming pictures of these royals during their younger years.
In 1939, then Princess Elizabeth, as well as her sister, participated in swimming matches. The Queen was only 13 when she won a Life-Saving Medal awarded by the Royal Life Saving Society.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte are quite close as siblings because of their ages -- he's six years old while she is four. However, their dad admits that they occasionally have fought like any other brother and sister, and he has to be the referee.
Prince William shared an anecdote with 14-year-old soccer player Olivia Hancock that he frequently plays football with Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Sometimes, in the heat of the game, his son would tell his sister that he is better than her.
The duke said that he'd always remind Prince George that his sister can also do well as him whenever he's putting down Princess Charlotte. Hancock said that she's glad to hear how Prince William teaches his children values like respect, especially for girls.
The two older Cambridge children are currently enrolled at the same school in Thomas's Battersea. Prince George is in Year 2 while Princess Charlotte just started as a Reception pupil this year.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were present during the first day of school last September to drop off their kids. Kate also reportedly joins the other parents for a meet and greet over cocktails and drinks. As much as possible, Prince William and Kate want to raise their kids in a normal environment in spite of their royal status.
