If Prince William ascends the throne and becomes the King of England, there could be fewer working royals in the family. Reports reveal that the future monarch wants to trim and cut down the number to perhaps just his own sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, along with their wives and children.

According to The Sun, Prince Charles is determined to cut the rest of the royal family off in the wake of Prince Andrew's scandal. Allegedly, it's what the Prince of Wales have always wanted: a smaller number of working royals benefitting from taxpayers' money.

Apparently, Prince Charles' plans accelerated because of what happened to Prince Andrew. The Duke of York was apparently forced to give up his royal roles over his links to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Some say that this scandal has tainted the British royals and Prince Charles had a hand in letting Prince Andrew decide to step down.

Sources also said that if this plan becomes a reality, Prince Charles' other siblings, Princess Anne and Prince Edward, as well as their respective spouses and family, will no longer have to serve their royal duties. This also means that Prince Andrew's daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, would no longer belong to the core.

Royal commentator Brittani Barger told the Daily Express that he believes Prince Andrew's royal reign is effectively done and over with. Barger said that the Duke of York is definitely out of the picture as the likelihood of his reinstatement is no getting dimmer and dimmer.

With the Queen rumored to be retiring in 18 months, Barger believes Prince Andrew's fate in the royal family is permanent. Essentially, this could also affect his daughters' situation as the slimming of the monarchy has begun.

Eventually, the British monarchy will just consist of Prince Charles, his sons and his grandchildren. However, Barger said Princess Anne might still have a chance to be retained in the firm since she is quite the hard-worker.

Meanwhile, as soon as Prince Charles returned from his 12-day royal tour abroad, he met with his father, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, at his home in Sandringham. According to reports, the two senior royals apparently discussed Queen Elizabeth's retirement when she turns 95 years old in 18 months.

However, speculations are that Prince Charles could already be stepping in as the Prince Regent and take charge of the day-to-day business of the royal family for Queen Elizabeth. There have been wild speculations that Her Majesty is losing touch and losing control of the firm as one controversy after the next have hounded the royals.
