Sarah Ferguson hit the wrong button when she was asked about her thoughts on her former husband's recent scandal. The Duchess of York has received backlash after saying Prince Andrew's scandal is "nonsense."

In an interview with Vogue Arabia, Ferguson revealed that Andrew has gone through an "enormous pain" because of the rumors involving him to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Ferguson, however, was slammed for not showing sympathy to the victims.

Vine panelist Dawn Neesom called Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice's mother "appalling." He said it looks like she wants the public to just dismiss the scandal as an insignificant issue.

"She suggests we should dismiss this as nothing. I think that's appalling, that was the most annoying of this rather than the Meghan thing," Neesom said.

Fellow Vine panelists and royal expert Dan Wootton agreed on Neeson's observation. Wooton said it was an odd interview because Sarah acknowledged her ex-husband's pain but not the victims of Epstein.

Prince Andrew recently talked about his relationship with Epstein in an interview with BBC Newsnight. The interview aimed to end the controversy once and for all but instead, it ignited criticism and more questions to the Duke of York.

In the interview, Queen Elizabeth's second son admitted he regrets keeping in touch with Epstein even after the American billionaire came out of prison on charges of procurement of minors. Andrew also denied all allegations of direct involvement with Epstein's victims.

After the BBC Newsnight interview, several charities withdrew their support on Prince Andrew's patronage. Then, the Duke of York announced that he would step down from his royal duties.

Sarah said the last six months have been very difficult not only to Prince Andrew but also to her and their children, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. It is believed that the fallout of the said interview greatly affected Princess Beatrice's wedding plans.

In September, the 31-year-old princess announced her engagement to entrepreneur Edoardo Mapelli-Mozzi. It is reported that Beatrice was forced to cancel her engagement party earlier this month to avoid media circus.

Meanwhile, in the same interview with Vogue Arabia, Sarah Ferguson expressed sympathy to Meghan Markle. Sarah said she can relate to the Duchess of Sussex as she also experienced the same level of media scrutiny when she joined the royal family.

Ferguson thinks Meghan is a great woman. However, when asked to give advice for Prince Harry's wife, Ferguson declined because she thinks that it can be taken out of context.
