Presidential daughter Ivanka Trump is set to appear in the upcoming CES 2020 early next year. As soon as her appearance as headline speaker in the biggest tech trade show was revealed, Ivanka has been receiving backlash online.

According to CNET, Ivanka will be on the CES 2020 panel set on January 8 with Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association which produces CES. The topic of Ivanka and Shapiro's panel is yet to be revealed but netizens are already criticizing Trump's daughter inclusion in one of the biggest tech trade shows in the world.

Many questioned her qualification in the technology field for her to become a panelist in a tech show. Another said they are asking for more women on the CES stage but it does not include Ivanka's participation.

"This is not what we meant when we asked for more women on stage at #CES. Not even close," a netizen wrote.

Ivanka has been a key figure on the Trump administration's tech programs. She sat down in discussions with top executives from Microsoft, Google, and IBM, as well as sitting on an advisory board with Apple CEO Tim Cook. Back in October, she also joined Google CEO Sundar Pichai at a tech jobs initiative announcement.

As for Shapiro, he has been known to be critical of Donald Trump particularly when the latter run for president in 2016. After Trump announced his presidential bid in 2015, Shapiro said all of his respect and affection to the real-estate mogul has gone. The businessman/author even said he wouldn't visit any of Trump's properties or watch his show until he drops out of the presidential race and apologized to those he slandered.

Shapiro has also spoken out against Trump's trade war with China. He argued that the tariffs that POTUS imposed on China are hurting the chipmakers in his own country. He called the tariffs against China were "the worst economic mistake" since 1930.

However, it seems like things have changed between the two. Ivanka has worked with Shapiro's CTA on many occasions. In May, Ivanka led the White House's lobbying to sign CTA and it's 42 member companies to the Pledge to America's Workers. Under its pledge, the consumer-electronics companies vowed to add nearly 400,000 new training opportunities for U.S. workers over the next five years.

The upcoming CES 2020 is not the first CTA's event that Ivanka Trump had appeared into. In October, the White House senior advisor to the U.S. President was among the speakers at the CTA's Global Entrepreneurship Summit in The Hague.

Meanwhile, leading tech companies such as Apple, Google, Facebook, and Amazon are set to appear at the upcoming CES 2020. The year's event will run from January 7-10, 2020, in Las Vegas.
