TWICE members are receiving increased protection after alarming reports about Nayeon's stalker surfaced online.
According to a report by Channel A News, JYP Entertainment has tightened security in the JYP building and the TWICE dorm to protect the members from a foreigner who has allegedly been stalking Nayeon. They have also sougt police protection for the members. TWICE members have also been given smartwatches to monitor their whereabouts at all times.
It has recently been reported that JYP was preparing to take legal action against TWICE Nayeon's stalker whom fans identified only as a German fan named @YoshTG aka Josh. ONCEs started reporting his alarming behavior on social media which began last October.
According to fans who engaged with the foreigner, he was under the delusion that Nayeon was his girlfriend. He also reached out to members of her family and friends so that he could get in contact with Nayeon. However, what caused alarm was the stalker's statement that he was in Korea and planned to meet up with the TWICE member.
He said he planned to take the TWICE member with him to Australia so that they could get married and start a family. Nayeon's stalker even shared that he planned to go to JYP Entertainment CEO J.Y. Park's house during his visit to Korea, which further solidified fans' beliefs about his delusions, Kpopstarz reported.
After gathering evidence of the stalker's suspicious behavior, ONCEs bombarded JYP Entertainment with demands to increase protection around Nayeon and the rest of the TWICE members. They sent volumes of emails to the agency, appealing for swift action on the matter as they feared the stalker's behavior would escalate.
Fans also mobilized on social media and trended the hashtag #ProtectNayeon to alert fans all over the globe that the TWICE member was in danger and that every bit of help was needed from the fandom. ONCEs appealed to fellow fans to come forward with any information about Nayeon's stalker to help authorities nab the culprit.
In its previous statement, JYP Entertainment acknowledged the report from fans and assured them that the agency was exploring all legal avenues to hold the stalker accountable for his actions.
"Hello, this is JYP Entertainment. Through SNS and other community sites, we are fully aware of the issue that is presumed to be stalking, and we are requesting legal action while taking protective measures for our artists," JYP announced to the fans.
Based on a report by Koreaboo, Josh denied that he initiated any threatening behavior against TWICE Nayeon and claimed that his character was being assassinated by the label. He said he was looking at exploring legal options as well.
