Prince William and Kate Middleton rarely display affection in public, let alone in front of the camera. So, when the Duke of Cambridge made a sweet gesture to his wife on TV, the Duchess of Cambridge reportedly shrugged it off. But before this event happened, unearth report revealed that the future king flirted quite openly to his now-wife in an interview.
During the Cambridges' engagement announcement in 2010, they seemed to be openly flirting on TV. While talking to ITV's Tom Brady, Prince William commended the relationship he had with Kate Middleton, per Express.
At the time, he told Brady that when he met the future queen consort for the first time, he knew there was something extraordinary about her. Thankfully, their friendship became the firm foundation of their strong bond. They started to have a relationship when they were already sophomore students in the university.
Over the years, things got better for them. Although there were a few struggles, just like any other relationship, they managed to pick up themselves and carry on.
"From where you have the odd problem when you're first getting to know each other, those have all gone, and it's really easy being with each other," Prince William said. "It's really fun, and I'm obviously extremely funny, and she loves that." Kate Middleton then laughed.
Meanwhile, Kate Middleton and Prince William graced the BBC holiday special, A Berry Royal Christmas, with the famed British chef and TV personality Mary Berry. However, in the middle of the interview, a particular gesture went viral and became the talk of the town.
According to E! News, at the end of the show, the royal couple hosted a party for local volunteers who would have to work on Christmas Day. While Kate Middleton and Prince William were seated by the fire and talked to a group of people, the second heir to throne put his hand on his wife's shoulder, but she quickly brushed it off.
Kate Middleton shifted her seat from left and right. Although it looked like he brushed her husband's hands away, some said she was only repositioning herself that came timely with the gesture. Others, on the other hand, called it a "moment of tension between" the couple.
Fans seldom see Prince William and Kate Middleton hold hands, embrace, or kiss in public. They are a complete opposite of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who are always packing on major PDA. However, it looks like it is quite normal for the royal family to be civil to each other in public. Most royals only share a little to no PDA at all at public events.
