It has been over a year since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle get married. They are now blessed with a child, baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, and enjoying their small family despite the criticisms and scrutinies. As they are now in their six-week break, unearth photos of their royal wedding are now revealed, and photographer Prince Alexi Lubomirski gave behind-the-scenes details about it.
British fashion photographer and Polish nobleman Lubomirski had the privilege to take the snaps of the Sussexes' official engagement and wedding. Before he got the invite from the Sussexes to discuss his vision for the project, he spent nights of researching 75 years of the royal engagement and wedding photography. Hence, he came armed with visual references.
At the time, Lubomirski revealed that he brought traditional wedding images and old Hollywood pictures for the royal couple to check. He then told them that he didn't want their photographs to look like a still life, but to get the "real people" out of them.
"Both of them were saying they wanted it to be authentic," he told Evening Standard. However, as it would be a royal event, there were some certain rules and protocols that they needed to follow. There were boundaries like they couldn't have them kissing, screaming, and running through the garden like the usual couples that got married.
However, despite the guidelines, Lubomirski used his creativity to create stunning photos. Unlike the most royal wedding photography where everything was symmetrical, from pillars to chandeliers, he wanted to keep it authentic to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
He said that they were a "very modern couple," and they had this authenticity to them, so he wanted to break how they were seated. "Instead of having the rugby team photo as it were, I wanted to have this sort of random rhythm, like waves," he added.
Cosmopolitan also noted that behind the scenes of their wedding, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry displayed an "amazing connection." When the Duke of Sussex talked, she would look at him and smile at what he said. He would then look at her, and there would be a spark between them.
Lubomirski even revealed that they were like a young couple who were deeply in love with each other. Talking about their iconic photo on the stairs, he said it happened in "mere minutes."
At the time, the Palace official was already looking at Lubomirski, saying they would have to turn around soon. Although in a hurry, he asked Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to sit on the steps, and they just slumped down and laughed. They then looked at each other, having a hard time to believe that they were already married.
