Meghan Markle and Prince Harry previously announced that they will be spending time away from the United Kingdom. In November, it was revealed that the Sussex family will be taking a six-week off from royal duties. The couple, along with Archie Harrison, flew to the United States to celebrate Thanksgiving Day with the duchess' mother, Doria Ragland.
Back then, no one knows, except possibly the rest of the British Royal Family, where they will be spending Christmas. There were a lot of reports, however, attesting that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not be back just in time to spend the holiday with Queen Elizabeth II at the Sandringham Estate.
According to Today, it was revealed earlier this week that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will fly to Canada, along with firstborn son, Archie and Doria Ragland. The whole family will be spending the rest of the year in the country.
The reason behind the family's trip outside their current hometown is due to Meghan Markle's fears of being separated from her nearly 1-year-old son. It was reported by Daily Mail that the duchess has been fearful over this dynamic given that she has no total rights of Archie.
Based on claims, the Christmas celebration in Sandringham together with the Queen is quite a "formal event." Accordingly, the younger royals, like Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, and Archie Harrison will celebrate the holiday in a separate "room" far away from their parents.
Sources from various publications, like Express UK, claimed that Meghan Markle is not fond of the idea. She does not want Archie to celebrate his first Christmas far from his parents. So, spending the holiday outside the United Kingdom is the most plausible solution for this to happen, the source explained.
In other reports, royal expert, Katie Nicholl told Vanity Fair that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle chose Canada for this year's Christmas celebration because the family, especially the Sussex couple has had a "tumultuous" year, and spending the holiday in the duchess previous home will be just fitting considering the country is quite peaceful and quiet.
It remains unknown, though, as to when the Sussex family will head back to the United Kingdom. It is also not revealed where the duke and duchess will celebrate the New Year. But, many are convinced that they will be back in the first week of January to continue their royal duties.
