How much is Paul Pogba worth to Real Madrid? A lot appears as the Spanish giants are reportedly willing to pay £85 million and send a promising player to Old Trafford. If the transaction will be exclusively cash, Manchester United's asking for the French superstar is £160 million.
These are the terms and figures that United and Real will decide on, and if a deal is finalized soon, Pogba will have his way and join the Los Blancos after months of wild speculations.
According to The Sun, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now willing to sign off his star midfielder after consistently declaring the World Cup winner is not for sale.
If the proposed deal pushes through, Solskjaer is likely to increase his chance of snatching teenage sensation Erling Haaland from the Red Bull Salzburg. Possibly, this is in line with the rumors that the Red Devils can only get a hold of Haaland if they would be willing to give up Pogba.
This is because Pogba and Haaland have the same agent, and deals on any of the players are tied on the conditions set by both players.
In any case, losing Pogba could mean that United will be getting the 19-year-old Vinicius that has not performed well for Real and supposedly tagged by Real boss Zinedine Zidane for selling. In 37 appearances so far, the young Brazilian could only deliver three goals for Real, which should explain the disinterest by Zidane.
With United, however, Vinicius could prove more productive as he answers to the requirements laid out by Solskjaer in his recruitment mission. The youngster fits the role of a goalscorer that the United coach is searching and he just might flourish in England when given the opportunity.
The Express said the developing deal seemed to be the perfect answer to the lingering Pogba question. It has been long-rumored that the Frenchman has been wanting to move to Spain, and should he feels the same, it seemed wiser on United's part to sell him than having a reluctant player.
"Madrid appear to be actively trying to move Vinicius on with Zidane not a huge fan, and if United's interest is genuine the deal could help all parties," the report said.
Another plus for United in trading Pogba is getting the cash that will fund the club's search for replacements.
The transfer targets identified by United, namely Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho, and James Maddison, are thought to be quite hard to pursue, but with more money on the purse, talent acquisition should be a little easier for Solskjaer.
