Barron Trump is Donald and Melania Trump's only son. He was born in 2006, a year after his parents got married. Being the only child of the President and First Lady of the United States, everyone is expecting he is living the life of a king. But growing up, how does the First family look after Barron?
In an interview with People in 2015, Donald and Melania Trump revealed that they didn't hire a nanny to help raise Barron Trump. The former model admitted she liked to be a hands-on mom. At her child's young age, she knew it was crucial to have his parents with him. Hence, she always made sure to be with the kid all the time, while her husband was busy traveling.
With their riches, Melania Trump could afford to get all the help that she needed. However, she only wanted to have a chef and an assistant while she would do the rest. "I do it myself. You know, those hours with your child are really important ones," she told Harper's Bazaar in 2016.
Melania Trump admitted that she didn't get the help of Donald Trump when she was looking after Barron Trump when he was a baby. He didn't change the diapers, but she was "completely fine with that." It didn't matter for Melania, as they both knew their roles. She didn't even want him to put his diapers on or put the kid to bed because she loved every minute of it.
However, it didn't mean that Donald Trump was not a helpful husband or a caring dad. The POTUS and Barron Trump loved to play golf together, eat dinner, and enjoy family time at Mar-a-Lago, the family's getaway in Florida, per Nicki Swift.
As a hands-on mom, Melania Trump didn't start doing things of her own, like her jewelry business, until Barron Trump began schooling. She would only do her professional work when her kid was away. She knew that being a mother was her first job, and everything only came second. She told Parenting that when her son was away, it would be the only time that she could attend a meeting, do her sketches, and everything else.
Melania Trump did everything to protect Barron Trump. They didn't move to the White House until he finished his year at the Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School. His official appearances were also limited to traditional first family events. Despite his rare appearances, Melania revealed that her son knew everything that was going on. She kept him balanced so that he could have a normal childhood as much as possible.
