Despite the absence of a new iteration, "Left for Dead 2" is still one of those old games with a very active community. Even up to this year, the zombie RPG's servers still peaked at more than 15,000 simultaneous players. So, it is not surprising why modders are still releasing new campaigns for the game like the "Left for Dead 2" Chernobyl mode.

The team behind the "Left for Dead 2" Chernobyl mod finally released the results of nine long years of hard work and dedication. "Left for Dead 2" Chernobyl: Chapter One is now available on Steam Workshop.

For players to be able to enjoy this game, they must have all seven content add-ons of "Left for Dead 2." The current release features five co-op maps, a new rescue vehicle, new models, and textures, reports Gamerant. Additionally, the "Left for Dead 2" Chernobyl: Chapter One has a specially composed soundtrack that fits well with the game's environment and characters' actions.

The developers promised that the versus element of the mod would be released in the next update. The developers of "Left for Dead 2" Chernobyl: Chapter One are generously hosting nine servers in various parts of the world so players can enjoy the game. Gamers could also host the campaign on their own servers.

"Left for Dead 2" Chernobyl: Chapter One follows a group of four survivors going to Siberia after a rumor that zombies could not survive the extreme cold surfaced. Sadly, it turns out that the rumors about zombies and cold are not true. The action begins with a helicopter crash with the group flying over Chernobyl. Just like "Left for Dead 2," players can bash, chainsaw, and shoot their way through the hordes of various types of zombies, also known as Infected.

"Left for Dead 2" Chernobyl: Chapter One players could explore Rector Block 4 of the nuclear power plant in Chernobyl. Additionally, players could access locations to the abandoned city of Pripyat as well as the Jupiter Factory situated in the outskirts of the city. The attention to detail on the creation of "Left for Dead 2" Chernobyl: Chapter One is impressive.

It could be seen on several showcased areas like the empty swimming pool, the overgrown amusement park with a rusty Ferris wheel, the tunnels beneath the city logged with waters, even the creepy replicas of the abandoned sites. "Left for Dead 2" was released for PC and Xbox 360 in 2009. So far, there is no news if Valve has plans for "Left for Dead 3."
