The year 2019 was a trying time for royal couples Kate Middleton and Prince William, and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as rumors of their rift grabbed the headlines. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, however, seemed to have made the first move to reconcile with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they released their "Year in Review" video on New Year's Eve.
Posted in the Kensington Royal Instagram account, Prince William and Kate's year-end video was a two-minute feature on their various royal engagements. What did not escape the fans, however, was that Prince William and Kate also included several photos and a video of Prince Harry and Meghan, as well as their son, Archie Harrison.
Prince William and Kate also captioned their video with a positive statement. They thanked the "inspirational people" they've met and worked with for 2019 and said they look forward to meeting and working with them again for the new year. This thrilled their followers to the core as several netizens posted that they loved how the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge included the Sussexes to cap off their highly successful year.
According to royal expert Kate Disick, there were "secret messages" from Prince William and Kate to their in-laws in that video. It was the Cambridges' way of telling the Sussexes that they hope their relationship will be better this year.
In response, Prince Harry and Meghan also shared their year-end video the following day on their Sussex Royal Instagram. Just like Cambridges, their tribute included photos of Kate and Meghan laughing together at their Wimbledon visit last July. It also had Prince William and Prince Harry with their father Prince Charles during a tribute to Sir David Attenborough.
Disick said the fact that the Sussexes also included Prince William and Kate in their year-ender highlights meant that they hope for the same things for 2020. They also want a peaceful co-existence with their in-laws.
Last year, reports of a tension between Prince William and Prince Harry came out in the press as the latter apparently felt that his older brother did not support him and his wife. Prince William, on the other hand, was reported to have doubts over Prince Harry's whirlwind relationship with the American TV star and there were also stories about Kate and Meghan clashing with each other.
The speculations of a feud were further sparked when Prince Harry and Meghan moved to Windsor from Kensington. The couple also broke away from the Royal Foundation to create their own charity work versus Prince William and Kate.
