The former First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama recently released her best-selling memoir, Becoming. She shared a lot of revelations in her piece, which made it more interesting to the readers and followers.

One of the shocking things that Michelle shared has been Barack Obama's decision to "postpone" their Christmas vacation in Hawaii. This was said to happen when their firstborn daughter, Malia, was still 18-months-old. During this time, the former U.S. President was still holding his office as the Illinois Senator.

Although Michelle revealed that she understood her husband's dedication and commitment to work, this created a "sinking feeling" in her.

According to Mea World Wide, Michelle Obama recalls the whole event in her memoir. Based on statements, the family of three, back then, planned their holiday for months. They were supposed to stay in Hawaii where Barack Obama's grandmother, Toot, was residing.

While everything was settled in terms of their Christmas plans, the former First Lady was shocked when her husband received a call from "work" asking him for his attendance. It was revealed that the Illinois senate was still on a "marathon debate" about a crime bill.

Quite understandable, Michelle was not "pleased" with the news that her husband gave her. Even so, she tried to be more understanding, as much as possible, given that the trip was not entirely cancelled.

Michelle Obama further explained that the family trip to Hawaii was not only for the Christmas celebration. It was supposed to be a break from their respective works. It was a moment "to breathe," she added.

So, upon learning that they will all need to give it up because of the thing that they wanted to escape from, she felt uneasy. Not to mention, they did not want Toot to celebrate Christmas alone. But, in the end, the former First Lady noted that things still went well for them.

As per Buzz Shared, this was not the only time when Michelle Obama and Barack Obama felt shaken because of their positions in society/ It was disclosed as well in Michelle's memoir that they also faced a very unfortunate event many years ago.

She recalled the Sandy Hook shooting in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012. After the tragedy, the former President spoke at a prayer vigil for all the victims.

Michelle Obama shared that she did not have the strength to be with her husband as she felt very "shaken" upon learning the developments of the incident. Instead of comforting the parents and families of the victims, she "clung" to her daughters with "fear and love."
