Many years before Meghan Markle, Duchess Camilla has been reportedly the center of media's and press' attention. Just like the former Suits actress, Prince Charles' second wife was plagued with various allegations and rumors that were unpleasant.
This comes after the Heir Apparent, along with her, confirmed that they were having an affair amid their respective marriages to Princess Diana and Andrew Parker Bowles. Quite obviously, this became controversial in the 90s.
However, things between the Prince of Wales and the now-Duchess of Cornwall have been better. After their respective divorces, the two royals decided to continue their relationship and got married in 2005.
Although the relationship was never fully accepted by the public, as well as by the Queen per reports, it seemingly appears that this has already changed in recent times. Recent reports have been claiming that Duchess Camilla has now "learned" her importance in the monarchy and to Queen Elizabeth II as well.
On Christmas Day, members of the Royal Family joined together to attend the monarch's invitation at the Sandringham Estate. Their annual church service was successful too.
But, while the majority of the press and media were focused on the other royals' appearances and styles for the service, some royal experts noticed that the Queen was joined by Duchess Camilla in her private car as they arrived at the venue. It was explained in an episode of Royal Central that the monarch comes with Prince Philip every year for the church service.
Seeing the Duchess of Cornwall with Queen Elizabeth II, especially during this annual tradition on Christmas Day, has been deemed as an "important" gesture. Several experts stated that this was a show of how the Queen values the importance of Duchess Camilla in the monarchy.
Considering that she is to become the future Queen once Prince Charles takes over the throne, it is not surprising why the duchess is an important figure. But, with the history that she has with the Royal Family, this was shocking and yet, extraordinary.
According to Cheat Sheet, royal correspondents attested that Duchess Camilla has already learned how to cultivate good ties and relationships with the press. This has helped her through the years, which seemingly became a huge factor as to why she is now widely accepted.
It was also reported by the publication that the duchess is likely telling the same thing to Meghan Markle, given that the new royal seemed to have replaced her in the eyes of the press, media, and the general public.
