Perhaps, the only thing that's exciting in Doctor Who season 12 episode 3 is that we're going to see The Doctor and her Companions relaxing a little. But while it's nice to see a full episode of holiday-related hijinks, we know that the series brings insane situations for its characters -- sometimes unexpected.
As for the guest stars, Laura Fraser and James Buckley are set to appear in Doctor Who season 12 episode 3. The upcoming episode is also set on a different time slot, kicking off at 7:10 PM local time. It will be a few minutes late than what we saw in the two-part premiere episode, which aired at 7 PM.
In another report, showrunner Chris Chibnall previously told Radio Times he's happy to revive the pure historical stories in Doctor Who. The series switched between sci-fi elements and historical stories set in the Earth's past when launched in the 1960s, but the "pure historical" plots were removed by the mid-1960s.
Chibnall said in the interview he wanted to bring back pure historical plots, citing one of 2018's episodes, titled "Rosa," where it includes a few sci-fi elements. He said he loves historicals and such stories might be included at some point within the series.
Furthermore, Chibnall noted he's open to accepting that kind of storyline if there were writers who will offer him such scripts. For now, however, there's no confirmation that pure historical plots will be featured in one of the episodes this season.
Doctor Who season 12 episode 3 will air on Sunday, Jan. 12, on BBC.
