Prince William and Prince Harry suffered major heartache when they lost a mother at an early age when Princess Diana died in 1997. After a year, their father, Prince Charles, started a relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles. The two got married in 2005, and one royal expert claimed that the two princes were not happy about it.

In Robert Jobson's 2006 book, William's Princess, he said that Prince William and Prince Harry only displayed happy faces in Prince Charles and Camilla's wedding for the public to see. However, what they felt was opposite of what people saw, per Express.

At the time, Prince William and Prince Harry were only age 22 and 20, respectively. "While Palace officials struggled to pull together the chaotic arrangements, they were forced to address a question they might rather have ignored," Jobson wrote in his book.

The veteran royal correspondent then posed a question, asking what did Prince William and Prince Harry think of the wedding, especially for Princess Diana's eldest child. As the older brother and the one who's like his mother, the Duke of Cambridge was the "de facto spokesman" among the siblings.

His blessing mattered the most. In the official line, the two princes were said to be delighted with Prince Charles' happiness. However, Jobson claimed that working as a royal reporter for over 15 years, he learned to be wary of official lines. "Sure enough, privately, their mood was more one of 'acceptance' than undiluted joy at the prospect of having Camilla as their stepmother," he revealed.

Her reported that Prince William and Prince Harry leaned on each other after their mother died. However, they also wanted to put their father at ease. So, they told him that they would each meet Camilla for him.

Prince Charles and Camilla's wedding was not only a fulfillment of a love story. Both the Parker Bowles and the royal family suffered adverse reports that tried to destroy their private lives. Now that things are well, they could put all of these things behind them.

Despite the alleged dislike, Prince William and Prince Harry reportedly grew closer to Camilla, who is now the Duchess of Cornwall. In fact, when there were tabloid reports that said that the future queen consort was taking over the family, the Duke of Sussex stepped in and said that she was "not a wicked stepmother" like everybody thought.

Now that she's part of the family, Prince William and Prince Harry started to see why Prince Charles always liked Camilla. She is not just an "air-headed noble," but she is also passionate about horses and gardening and speaks out on behalf of sexual assault victims.
