In the wake of scandals involving manipulation in survival shows in search of potential idols, MOMOLAND's Daisy exposed MLD Entertainment's Finding MOMOLAND of being rigged.
According to a report by Koreaboo, it recently came to light that an internal complaint was filed against the show for deceiving the viewers but it turned out that the report was filed by MOMOLAND's Daisy, herself.
Daisy, who participated in the show, was eliminated from the original line up of members but was added to the group on March 28, 2017, in time for the group's second album release.
"The agency called me on the day of the eliminations and asked to meet me the next day. They told me that regardless of what happened in the eliminations, I was going to join the group. They said to wait until after the first album promotions were completed, and that I would make my debut with them in the second album, Wonderful Love," Daisy said in a KBS interview.
According to Daisy, she, along with other members, was also forced to pay for part of the production cost of the show. She said that, when she received her first salary from MLD Entertainment, it had a deduction of 70 million KRW (₩65,899,912 KRW), which the label claimed was part of the production cost of the show.
Based on KBS' investigation, the network confirmed with MLD Entertainment that MOMOLAND members all paid tens of millions of won to shoulder part of the production. However, the label claimed that the members all agreed to the terms of the contract.
They also claimed that it was the label's prerogative to reinforce the group with additional members and Daisy also accepted the terms when she joined MOMOLAND.
In its official statement, it denied that the show engaged in any fraudulent activities and maintained that it was upfront about the conditions of the contract for the members. It further explained that the contracts were on the standard exclusive contract from the Fair Trade Commission and was agreed on by the members and their parents. MLD also said that the agency was prepared to refute Daisy's claims and said they planned to take legal action against the MOMOLAND member and her mother.
MOMOLAND, recently, made their comeback as a six-member group after it was announced that Taeha and Yeonwoo were permanently going to leave the group.
Taeha, reportedly, opted to terminate her contract with MLD Entertainment to pursue her musical career with another label while Yeonwoo, reportedly, left the group to focus on her acting career.
Daisy, who has been on hiatus along with Taeha since February of last year due to "health and personal reasons," caused quite a stir on social media after her mother accused the label of not being truthful about the real reason for sidelining the two members.
In a social media post, Daisy's mother claimed that her daughter was crying constantly because of MLD's decision but could not talk for herself because she was bound by her contract.
While Taeha and Yeonwoo's paths were made clear, Daisy's career continued to hang in the balance as MOMOLAND's comeback featured only six members, leaving her out of promotions. It was, recently, reported that Daisy was also pushing for the termination of her contract with the label.
