After almost a year of taking "hiatus," MOMOLAND member Daisy spoken out about her agency and the reality show Finding MOMOLAND. Daisy accused the reality show was rigged and revealed that MLD Entertainment prohibited her from joining promotions with her bandmates.
In an interview with KBS's News9, Daisy claimed MLD Entertainment had prevented her from working for more than eight months even though she told them that she would like to join her group in promotions. Daisy said she kept on telling MLD that can join her group but the label insisted that she should take a rest.
Later on, she requested the termination of her contract. MLD, however, allegedly told her that she would have to pay them 1.1 billion won ($942,866.00) as a penalty fee for breaching her contract.
It can be recalled that MLD announced, back in March 2019, that Daisy and Taeha would be taking a hiatus due to health and personal reasons. Daisy's mother, later on, posted on social media suggesting that it was not true and her daughter and Taeha were forced to take a break for unrevealed reasons.
Daisy also alleged that the Mnet's survival show, Finding MOMOLAND, was rigged. In addition, the singer revealed that the members were told to share a certain amount as their payment for the show's production costs.
MLD denied the accusations about rigging the show. However, the company confirmed that MOMOLAND members signed a contract stating they would be responsible for part of the show's production costs and their parents also agreed to the arrangement.
Finding MOMOLAND is a reality show that aired between July and September of 2016. It involved 10 trainees who competed for spots in a new girl group, which later became MOMOLAND.
Daisy alleged that the final lineup of Finding MOMOLAND was manipulated. She added that on the day that she was eliminated, MLD asked for a meeting the next day.
Apparently, the label told her that they planned to include her in the group even though she got eliminated. Daisy later on debuted when MOMOLAND released Wonderful Love about six months after the group's debut.
Meanwhile, MOMOLAND already made a comeback in March 2019 without Daisy and Taeha. In November, MLD confirmed that Taeha and Yeonwoo are no longer part of MOMOLAND. They made a comeback in late December with a new single, titled "Thumbs Up," with only six members.
According to the label, they had terminated the contract with Taeha while Yeonwoo will focus on her acting career. As for Daisy, MLD said, at the time, that there are things that they are still discussing with her.
