Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle were once outsiders of the royal family. Since their marriage to Prince William in 2011 and Prince Harry in 2018, respectively, the Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex are expected to ascribe to certain protocols that apply to female royals only.

The protocol has to do with traveling in an airplane, per Daily Express. Apparently, female royals are expected to keep their chin on the level to the stairs as they exit the airplane. This is so that they can still engage with whatever is in front of them and avoid bowing their heads. This also demands a lot from the posture of the female royal.

According to etiquette trainer Myka Meier, Kate and Meghan have to keep their shoulders and back straight while walking down the stairs. They must also keep their chin parallel to the floor and square off their shoulders.

Male members of the royal family are not required to do this but they must walk before their wife when descending the stairs. Prince William and Prince Harry have to ensure that Kate and Meghan won't trip as they greet people in the tarmac.

The only exception to this rule is Queen Elizabeth, who always walks ahead of her husband, Prince Philip, as the most senior royal. This travel rule for female royal family members is still in place even if they are traveling with children. In fact, when Kate traveled carrying baby Prince George from a plane several years ago, she still had her chin parallel or on the level, albeit slightly bowing from time to time to watch her steps.

Meanwhile, Kate and Prince William often travels with their long-time nanny Maria Borallo if their kids are with them. She has been with the Cambridge family since Prince George's birth six years ago.

Nanny in Book author Louise Heren told Mirror that the Norland College-trained Spanish supernanny might have devised a few tricks to manage the royal children. Heren said that many of the children in royal households are like typical British school kids who get up in the morning, eat their breakfast, go to school and come home as their routine.

But at certain ages, Norland nannies like Borallo are supposedly trained to include the children in organizing their daily activities and schedules. While the nanny will still have some control, the children are always asked if they are happy with the choices.

Borallo's role is especially crucial since she is raising a future king in Prince George. Thus, she also has to prepare the young boy and his sibling for their royal outings. She has to see to it that the Cambridge children are well-behaved, presentable, happy and safe. She also has to establish a routine among the kids when it comes to eating and sleeping.
