During the big AMD CES 2020 keynote, Xbox fans presumed they had seen something about the upcoming next-generation gaming console from Microsoft that they should not see when an image of the Xbox Series X's back was shown. However, AMD later admitted that the image it used during the keynote was not sourced from Microsoft. However, today, real Xbox Series X information is provided by Brad Sams of Thurrott, who has a proven track record of information related to Xbox in the past.

While it does not seem like Sams, have actually seen the actual Xbox Series X gaming console, but he was able to confirm with several reliable sources the ports that the next generation gaming console from Microsoft has along with the general layout. The tipster even shared a mock-up of the back of the Xbox Series X.

Based on the Xbox Series X mockup, there is only one HDMI port, which indicates that users could no longer route cable box and other consoles through the next generation gaming console from Microsoft. A couple of USB ports are also present, but these are USB-A ports instead of the newer USB-C type. The Xbox Series X also sports an optical audio port and an ethernet port along with a power connection.

Additionally, the mockup shows a mystery slot that, at this point, we do not know what it is for. It might be for developers and might be accessed for debugging, speculates, Sams. Moreover, extra air intakes are visible at the back of the Xbox Series X mockup, which contradicts the fake images showing a smooth-sided monolith.

Granting that the new information from Sams is accurate, it is a little disappointing to see only one HDMI socket and the USB-A instead of the USB-C. It is worth mentioning though that these details are not official, so it is hard to make any conclusions about the upcoming next-generation gaming console from Microsoft at the moment. Earlier, Xbox Boss Phil Spencer changed his profile image on his personal account on Twitter.

The new profile is an image of a custom AMD processor, presumably for the Xbox Series X. It bears the words Project Scarlett and an engraved 8K. No other details are shown in the photo, aside from the remarkably thick processor, which Spencer previously mentioned. It seems that the higher power output required some massive changes in the processor's design, which could very well explain the size of the next-generation Xbox Series X.
