Prince Philip is now doing well after the health scare that occurred before Christmas. Surely, no media would try to disturb the Duke of Edinburgh's rest as he reportedly hates being photographed. In fact, a 2013 documentary revealed that Queen Elizabeth II's husband attempted to oust a royal photographer at the Windsor Park.
Prince Philip reportedly had an angry outburst in Windsor Park and shouted at a royal photographer to get off his land. Although the royal park is managed and funded by the Crown Estate, most parts of it are open to the public.
Kent Gavin remembered the incident in the 2013 Amazon Prime documentary Royalty Up Close: The Photography of Kent Gavin. At the time, he was in the park to take pictures of Prince Philip when the latter shouted at him to get out and asked what he was doing there, per Express.
He said he was taking pictures, but Prince Philip responded that he didn't want him there. A series of obscenities then followed it.
Prince Philip whizzed off and came back three minutes later on his bike. He went straight past Gavin, making all the motorized cameras clicking away. It was not the first time that the Duke got mad at the press or photographers.
Being a royal photographer for several decades, Gavin revealed that there were few occasions when Prince Philip was grumpy at the press. "I've been at many, many, many occasions with him when he's not been a happy soldier with us being around," he said.
As often as possible, Prince Philip wanted his privacy. Although he would give the press the picture that they wanted, he would like to have his privacy when it's called for. It might be because of his advancing age.
Prince Philip is now 98 years old. He even reportedly has an existing condition, which sent him to a hospital for four nights before Christmas last year.
According to Town and Country Magazine, Buckingham Palace said it was a planned visit. "The admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness's doctor," a statement read.
Fortunately, he was discharged on Dec. 24 and was able to join the royal family for Christmas in Sandringham. Prince Philip also sent his gratitude to the people who wished him well.
Prince Charles also confirmed that his father is now doing much better. He said that Prince Philip is being "looked after very well," and even made a joke that when people reach that age, things don't work out well anymore.
