The Cupertino company Apple launched the iOS 13.3 recently. It is a part of the rapid update of the company since it introduced the bug-ridden iOS 13 in Sept. 2019. The latest update, like all other earlier releases, is far from perfect and comes with some major security flaws as well as impressive features unknown to many uses.
IOS 13.3 Major Issues
Yesterday, Apple confirmed to BBC that there is a serious network issue with the Apple iPhone XR. The issue primarily affects iPhone users on the UK carrier O2 following several network issues in the recently rolled out iOS 13.3 update. Apple reveals it is currently working on a fix.
A few days earlier, Forbes reported that Apple devices running between iOS 12 and iOS 13 .3 have a vulnerability that enables hackers to extract the passwords of users' unlocked phones. All Apple iPhones up to iPhone X are vulnerable to this issue. The current issue could trigger the accelerated release of iOS 13.3.1, which is now on its beta phase.
In addition to these issues, CNBC reported in Dec. 2019 that the Screen Time feature has a vulnerability that allows users to communicate even if the Screen Time feature is triggered. Apple is believed to be working on its fix, which is so far, one of its top priorities.
IOS 13.3 Features You May Have Missed
Aside from the issues, iOS 13.3 also introduced several interesting features. One of these is Limit communication. With this feature, users can put a limit for phone calls, messages, and FaceTime calls in the Screen Time app.
The recent iOS 13.3 also comes with safari security key support. Safari browser on both iPad and iPhone devices now supports FIDO2-compliant security keys that utilize USB, Near Field Communication, and Lightning. These security keys are physical keys that help users find authentication without relying on passwords or biometric authentication.
Apple also removed Memoji or Animoji stickers with the release of iOS 13.3. Since not all iPhone users like the exclusive iOS feature, these stickers can now be removed on their devices from the emoji keyboard. The Cupertino company will surely release a lot of interesting features in its upcoming updates.
iPhone users are hoping that new iOS updates will finally solve the recurring and annoying issues. Last year, Apple changed its privacy policy and included being able to check iPhone photos for possible child abuse material. The Cupertino company is also unwavering in its commitment to upholding users' privacy through user data encryption.
