JP Morgan and a few others earlier claimed that only two of the four iPhone 12 5G models would support mmWave, based on an earlier investors' note. In other words, the other two iPhone 12 5G models will only support sub-6GHz. Meanwhile, TFI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a new note to investors claiming that all four iPhone 12 5G releasing this year will support the mmWave 5G.
Based on his latest note to investors, it appears that the Taiwan-based analyst is singing a different tune. In a new note today, as spotted by Macrumors, Kuo said that Apple is still on time to release both sub-6GHz and sub-6GHz plus mmWave iPhone 12 models simultaneously in the second half of this year. The development of iPhone 12 5G models with both sub-6GHz and mmWave support is right on schedule, adds the TFI analyst.
In Dec. 2019, reputable Apple tipster and Taiwan-based TFI analyst Ming-chi Kuo said that four iPhone 12 with 5G support would launch in the second half of 2020. The release includes both iPhone 12 models that support sub-6GHz and mmWave, depending on the region. iPhone 12 5G models with mmWave 5G support would be released in five markets, according to Kuo.
These are the US, the UK, Canada, Korea, and Japan. Kuo also suggested that Apple might disable the 5G functionality in other countries that do not have 5G tech yet or have a shallow 5G penetration rate to minimize costs of production. Last week, it was reported that iPhone 12 5g with sub-6GHz support would launch in Set. 2020 and the iPhone 12 5G with mmWave support would be released in Dec. 2020, claimed analyst Mehdi Hosseini, which disagreed with Kuo's predictions.
Analysts from JP Morgan predicted that all four iPhone 12 models would be offered in the same year as the release of the iPhone SE 2, reports Apple Insider. With analysts' predictions contrasting each other, it is unclear which iPhone 12 models will be released and when. Perhaps, Apple would launch the iPhone 12 in the same way that it released the iPhone 11 last year, according to Wccftech.
But, regardless of what these predictions are saying, it is worth mentioning that these are not official and are mere speculations. In this case, we suggest not to get too excited about the details predicted by analysts. For one, we are still a few months away from the anticipated September 2020 launch, and between now and the release window, many changes could happen. We suggest taking this information with a pinch of salt.
