TF Securities Analyst and reputable Apple tipster Ming-Chi Kuo reported last year that the Cupertino tech giant might introduce a new batch of iPad Pro models in 2020. Since then, occasional leaks surfaced, revealing potential specs of the premium next-generation tablet. Now, a new report claims that Apple might release its next-generation iPad Pro models with backlit Smart Keyboard with Scissor Switches.

iPad With New Scissor-Switch Smart Keyboard

The latest report on the Apple iPad Pro models comes from the Taiwan-based publication Digitimes. The full details on this report will not be available until tomorrow, the site states. So, at this point, what we have is just a preview of what we can expect in this year's iPad Pro.

It is interesting to note that Apple is slowly shifting to Scissor-Switch design. Consumers first saw this type of keyboard on the 16-inch MacBook Pro, which was released in 2019. Apple used to equip its laptops with the Butterfly keyboard, but it has given the Cupertino lots of issues and earned the ire of lots of users.

Other iPad Pro Leaks

The current generation Apple iPad Pro models, however, do not have the faulty butterfly switch keyboard. Instead, its keyboard features a rubber-dome design. Other Apple MacBook models are anticipated to feature the same Scissor-Switch keyboard this year. The latest report from Digitimes is a bit confusing since it does not align with earlier rumors.

Ming-Chi Kuo previously said that Apple would release its next-generation iPads with the same rubber-dome design. In Jul. 2019, the TF Securities Analyst claimed that the new keyboard for the iPad Pro might happen in 20201. Kuo also said that Apple would concentrate on the upcoming refresh of the 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.

In October last year, BayStreet Research's Cliff Maldonado said that Apple could integrate full mouse support for iPad Pro. Through this, the premium tablet could be more appealing to hard-core gamers as well as to power users. With its computing power and integrated mouse support, Apple could have its first venture on the hard-core gaming segment, said BayStreet Research principal analyst and founder Cliff Maldonado.

Apple's marketing campaign for the iPad last year was bold, claiming that the tablet could replace computers. At this point, nothing is official yet about the next-generation Apple iPad Pro. Earlier reports suggested that the new premium tablet might arrive in the first or second quarter of 2020.

Since these details about the Apple iPad Pro are pure speculations, we suggest taking these with a pinch of salt.
